Main signs of inguinal hernia
The most typical symptom is the appearance of:
A small “ball” or swelling in the groin
More visible when standing or exerting effort
May disappear at bedtime
Other symptoms include:
Mild discomfort or pain
Feeling of heaviness in the inguinal region
Pain when coughing, laughing or lifting weights
Not all hernias hurt
Many patients don't feel pain-especially at first,
soit is common to ignore the first signs.
👉 Even without pain, the hernia may enlarge over time.
How to confirm the diagnosis?
In most cases, the diagnosis is made by clinical observation.
Tests such as ultrasound may help, but are not always necessary.
⚠️ When should you look for evaluation?
If you notice a bulge in your groin
If you experience persistent discomfort
If the “ball” increases in size
One early evaluation avoids complications and allows for simpler treatment.
What to do next?
If you suspect a hernia, it's best to confirm the diagnosis and see if you need treatment.
